Terms of service
These terms are an agreement between you and Bocastack LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“we”), for using Blockscale: the website, the web app at blockscale.app and the Blockscale iPhone app. By creating an account or using Blockscale, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
Who can use Blockscale
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to your email and sign-in methods secure. Tell us right away at hello@blockscale.app if you think someone else has accessed your account.
What Blockscale does
Blockscale shows your connected accounts, net worth, budgets, transactions and subscriptions in one place. Bank connections are view only: Blockscale cannot move money, make payments or place trades.
You connect accounts through Plaid, our connection provider. You authorize us and Plaid to retrieve information from the institutions you connect, and you confirm that you are allowed to access those accounts. Plaid’s own terms and privacy policy apply to how it handles your bank sign-in.
Not financial advice
Blockscale gives you information, not advice. Blockscale is not a bank, broker, investment adviser, tax adviser or accountant. Budgets, categories, suggestions and guides are general information and do not consider your full situation. Talk to a qualified professional before making financial, tax or legal decisions.
Accuracy
Account data comes from your institutions and our providers, and it can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Home values are automated estimates, not appraisals. Check important figures with your institution before relying on them.
Households
You can invite other people to your household. Everyone in a household can see all of its financial information, including accounts other members connected. Household owners can invite and remove members and delete the household. When a member leaves or is removed, the banks they connected are disconnected and that data is removed from the household; records members entered by hand stay with the household. One subscription covers the whole household.
Subscriptions and payment
Free trial. New households can try Blockscale free for 7 days. A trial started on the web is available once per household. A trial in the iPhone app is offered by Apple once per Apple ID. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and you are charged.
Renewal. Subscriptions are billed monthly or yearly and renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. The price and billing period are shown before you subscribe. We will tell you in advance if the price of your subscription changes.
Where you pay. Subscriptions purchased on the web are sold and processed by Stripe as the seller of record, and Stripe’s purchase terms also apply. Subscriptions purchased in the iPhone app are sold by Apple under Apple’s terms. A subscription bought on either one unlocks Blockscale on both.
Canceling. You can cancel at any time. Cancel a web subscription from Settings in Blockscale. Cancel an iPhone subscription in your iPhone’s Settings under your Apple account. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Refunds. Payments are not refundable for partial periods, except where the law requires it. Refunds for purchases in the iPhone app are handled by Apple. If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have a legal right to cancel a purchase within 14 days; you can exercise it by contacting the seller (Stripe for web purchases, or Apple for iPhone purchases) or us.
When a subscription ends. If your subscription ends, your financial data is no longer shown until you subscribe again. You can still export your data, manage your household and delete your account. If your subscription stays ended for 30 days, we disconnect your banks and delete the data that came from them. Records you added yourself, your budgets and your net worth history stay, and you can connect your banks again when you subscribe.
Using Blockscale responsibly
Do not use Blockscale to break the law; connect accounts you are not allowed to access; invite someone using another person’s email address; try to access other people’s data; interfere with, overload or reverse engineer the service; or use automated tools to collect data from it. We may limit requests to protect the service.
Your data and our service
Your financial data and the records you add belong to you. You allow us to store, process and display them only to provide Blockscale to you and your household, as described in our privacy policy. You can export your data or delete your account at any time from Settings.
Blockscale, including its software, design and branding, belongs to Bocastack LLC. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use Blockscale while these terms apply. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
Changes to Blockscale
We are always improving Blockscale and may add, change or remove features. If we stop offering Blockscale, we will give you reasonable notice and time to export your data.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other users or the service at risk, or that we are required to close by law. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you time to export your data.
Disclaimers
Blockscale is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not promise that Blockscale will be uninterrupted, error-free or always accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Bocastack LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or financial losses resulting from decisions made using Blockscale. Our total liability for any claim relating to Blockscale is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Blockscale in the 12 months before the claim or US$50.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived, or liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Florida. If you are a consumer living in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may bring claims in your local courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Blockscale after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply.
